Sunnyside Gardens was founded in 1988, inspired by owner Jason Chartier's personal journey supporting his parents through moves between hospitals and skilled nursing facilities. “I envisioned something different,” says Jason. “A place that felt more like home and less like a medical institution. That’s when Sunnyside was born—built to meet the needs of my own mom. "At that time, assisted living communities were scarce in the United States, and Jason pioneered a new model of care. “We were among the very first dementia units in the state—back then, people weren’t quite sure what to make of us,” he recalls with a smile. “We didn’t know exactly which services to offer at first, but as we listened and grew, we added features like a beauty parlor, medication rooms, and calming fountains. Over more than thirty years, we’ve honed our care, always learning and adapting with the needs of our residents in mind.”
Today, Sunnyside Gardens remains proudly family-owned and operated, continuing a legacy of compassionate, personalized care in a warm and welcoming environment.
